The team behind Elders Real Estate

Tom Russo

General Manager,
Real Estate


Tom Russo was appointed as General Manager – Real Estate of Elders Ltd in January 2016 and has the responsibility for the strategic development of the Elders Real Estate group. This includes Rural and Residential Agency, Real Estate Franchise, Property Management, Water Trading, Agribusiness Investments, Conveyancing and Elders Home Loans.

Prior to this appointment Tom was the General Manager – Strategy and Business Development. He played a pivotal role in devising and implementing the turnaround strategy for Elders, including executing a number of large and complex divestment initiatives, most notably Elders’ exit from its complex forestry MIS business.

Belinda Connor

Head of Residential Real Estate


Belinda is a senior marketing and business specialist, with over 15 years’ experience in strategic marketing, franchise growth, brand, digital, CX and business development. Working with both national and state based organisations, on local and international initiatives, across non-profit and corporate organisations, Belinda has led large multidisciplinary marketing teams and strategic marketing projects for brands such as FOXTEL and Wendy’s.

Belinda is responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing, technology and CX strategy to underpin aggressive growth of the Elders Real Estate network and for  strategic improvements for both franchise and company owned residential real estate offices.

Jennifer Birrell

National Manager of Operational Excellence


Jenny commenced her Real Estate career in a wheatbelt town in WA over 30 years ago and since then has held a variety of senior management roles in both independent agency operations and within a large franchised group. With her extensive experience in all facets of the Real Estate industry including Financial Controller, Property Manager, Operations Manager, Business Development Manager and CEO of a large franchised group, Jenny has always been focused on providing support for Franchise Owners and helping them grow their businesses.

The focus for this national operation role for Jenny will be to drive and manage new initiatives and ensure that training, systems and procedures are “best practice” across the Elders network.

Darren Barlow

SA/NT, VIC & TAS Franchise Manager


Throughout his 24 years within a dynamic and evolving Real Estate industry, Darren has acquired extensive, first-hand experience across a range of Real Estate and Franchising sectors. With a broad professional background including previously managing and owning Real Estate Franchises, Darren is a very highly respected member of the industry. Darren has the knowledge and expertise to assist you in your journey throughout your real estate career.

Steve Murphy

NSW/ACT Franchise Manager


Steve Murphy has been in the Real Estate industry for the past 30 years. A Principal for 25 years, Steve has owned and operated up to 4 successful offices simultaneously, managing a combined team in excess of 20 people.

Steve is a registered Valuer, licensed Real Estate agent/business agent as well as an experienced Auctioneer conducting and mentoring over some 2000 auctions.

Roylene Reilly

NSW Franchise Manager


A positive, enthusiastic and experienced agent, Roylene Reilly has had an extensive career in the Real Estate industry, spanning over 26 years.

Ranked within the Top 10 Auction focused Sales Agents of NSW, in the 1990’s Roylene developed a reputation for delivering outstanding service and results. These attributes were honed further under other major Franchisor groups in management roles, using her driving force to support her Principals and promote business growth and motivation of their top performers. She joined the Elders group because of the strong network and loyal contingency of individuals, all proud to stand behind the brand.

Colin Hawkins

QLD Franchise Manager


Colin is passionate about the Elders brand and its people. He specialises in business coaching, mentoring and is focussed on business growth.

Colin works with business owners and teams to achieve peak performance and profitability, which has allowed him to achieve a reputation for getting results.

Drew Cary

WA Franchise Manager


Having worked for Southern Districts Estate Agency (SDEA) over the past decade, Drew brings a wealth of knowledge with him in his new role as Real Estate Sales Executive for Elders. SDEA has long serviced the real estate needs of the South West having been in operation for almost 50 years. Over his last 8 years with SDEA, Drew worked as the Managing Director, supervising approximately 65 staff from three branch offices across residential, rural and commercial sales; residential and commercial property management and strata management.

Drew is all too familiar with acquisitions of both staff and rent rolls, having successfully merged 3 additional real estate businesses into SDEA over a 5 year period. As well as being a Licensed Real Estate Agent, Drew is also a Licensed Auctioneer and has worked successfully in a business brokering and commercial specialist roles. Prior to venturing into the real estate industry, Drew completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) degree through Curtin University and spent almost 10 years in Managing Director roles for several high-profile national and international enterprises.

Drew has a passion for training and compliance and is excited to bring his past experiences and knowledge of the real estate industry into his new role. Drew will be focusing on Residential, Property Management and Franchise for WA.
